Inpatient laboratory results are posted to the patient chart every day except Saturdays. On Saturdays interim reports are sent to each Nursing Unit. Outpatient medical record reports and physician copies are delivered to the clinic reception desks each morning, Monday through Friday.
Current lab data is also available through the computer system.
The Laboratory will not fax results to internal (inside DHMC) fax machines when CIS is available.
Notification of Clinicians When Testing is Delayed
Clinicians will be notified in the event that clinical laboratory result reporting will be delayed due to an unusual occurrence such as downtime, equipment failure or any other unforeseen delay.
If there is a delay in resulting routine tests for one day or more, or of critical tests for an hour or more, the Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, Medical Director or the technologist in charge will direct notification of the appropriate staff:
